GRVT Burns 1.1 Million Tokens as GRVT 2.0 Draws Closer

Grvt has begun a five-milestone product rollout toward a planned Grvt 2.0 launch at the end of November 2026. Its first GRVT token buyback removed 1.1 million tokens from circulation, nearly 1% of the circulating supply when the purchase took place. The buyback is a supply change that can be checked on-chain; it doesn’t establish a fixed schedule for future purchases or guarantee any effect on the token’s market value.

Grvt is a self-custodial trading platform built on its own zero-knowledge (ZK) chain. The Foundation’s token issuer bought the tokens on the open market and transferred them to a designated burn address. The project says the tokens are permanently removed from circulation.

What the buyback commits to—and what it doesn’t

The issuer intends to make further buybacks monthly, but each purchase is discretionary. There’s no predetermined purchase amount and no guaranteed schedule. That distinction matters: the first burn is a completed transaction, while the timing and size of any later buys remain uncertain.

An independent execution partner carries out the purchases. Grvt’s public buyback dashboard records the amount bought and burned, the share of circulating supply represented, cumulative burns and on-chain transaction hashes. Those records give users a way to verify transactions and track the reported totals. They don’t, by themselves, indicate what future buybacks will be or how markets may respond.

Grvt co-founder and CEO Hong described the token as part of the ecosystem the company is building. Hong said the issuer’s buybacks are intended to support the ecosystem and reduce circulating supply as Grvt expands its products and markets. The quote frames the buyback as one mechanism alongside that product expansion, rather than as a substitute for it.

Four product milestones on the roadmap

The buyback follows GRVT’s token generation event in July 2026. Four planned launches make up the remaining milestones before Grvt 2.0. Their stated dates and product details describe plans; the article doesn’t establish that these releases have already occurred.

Grvt Earn, planned for the end of October, is intended to offer yield opportunities backed by tokenized assets. The target yield is up to 11%, with potential returns expected to come from cash flows tied to underlying assets, including interest, premiums and invoice-related income. Grvt says it will name asset-supplying partners at launch. The target is not guaranteed, and actual returns would depend on the assets and their cash flows.

Stable Funding Perps, planned for November, would add perpetual futures tied to commodities, stocks, foreign exchange and indices. The proposed contracts would have zero trading fees and funding calculated once a day. Grvt aims to list more than 1,000 markets by the end of December 2026. That figure is a target, and the range of markets would extend the product beyond the roughly 200 cryptocurrency and real-world asset perpetual futures the platform currently supports.

Yield as Margin, also planned for November, would let eligible Grvt Earn balances support trading positions while continuing to accrue yield. Eligibility, product terms and risk parameters would shape how this works in practice. Combining yield-bearing balances with trading collateral can reduce the need to move funds between separate activities, but it also links the balance’s availability to the conditions governing both products.

Grvt 2.0, planned for the end of November, is set to bring these capabilities together in a single self-custodial app. The rollout is also expected to include a new name, visual identity and the company’s 2027 roadmap. The product question to watch is how the app handles the relationship between balances used for yield and those committed to open trading positions.

Idle balances are the problem Grvt is targeting

Grvt says a survey of its traders earlier in 2026 found that six in ten respondents kept at least a quarter of their capital idle on the platform. Many also said they moved funds elsewhere to seek yields of 8% or more. These results point to a product design challenge: traders may want assets available for positions while also seeking returns on funds they aren’t currently using.

Hong said Grvt 2.0 is designed around a single self-custodial balance that can support both earning yield and trading. If the planned products work as described, eligible balances could serve both purposes without users having to choose between them. The terms and risk parameters will determine how much of that flexibility users actually get.

Founded in 2022, Grvt launched its token in July 2026. The token confers no ownership, profit or other economic rights. The company’s full announcement provides further details on the roadmap. For now, the clearest measurable change is the first burn: 1.1 million tokens removed, with future buybacks left to the issuer’s discretion and four product milestones still ahead.
